K-on!
K-on (けいおん!) is a very famous animation
in Japan which is about a band activity after school in high school. But basically, they didn’t really practice and all they do is sitting around; drinking and eating cake and tea. It’s also the reason why the band name is “Ho-kago Tea Time” which means “after school tea time”. The characters include:
Hirasawa Yui: The main characters and guitarist in the club. She doesn’t have any experience with the electric guitar at all. But reason why she joined K-on is because she misunderstood that she only needed to play the castanet for the band. She does not get good grades in school (though when properly coached, she can achieve astounding results) and is easily distracted by many things (mainly when she sees something very cute). Yui is clumsy and easily spaces out most of the time. She takes a huge liking for any kind of food (she practically never gains weight, which is greatly gotten jealous by the rest of the club members).
Tainaka Ritsu: Ritsu (or Ricchan, as nicknamed by Yui) is the president of the club. She is the drummer in the club. She’s a very skilled drummer but in the other hand, she always have problem when she tried to play instruments that involve using fingers movement such as; bass, guitar, and keyboard. Also, Ritsu is the most active and a little bit of a tom boy in this anime.
Akiyama Mio: Mio is a shy girl who is in the light music club and plays a left-handed bass. While she originally intended to join the literary club, she was forced into the light music club by her childhood friend and the club’s president/drummer, Ritsu. She gets excellent grades in school and is many times mature and strict especially where Ritsu is involved; her weakness is the macabre and horrific. She always getting depress whenever she hear anything that involve ghost, blood, injuries and much more. She also really afraid of being in the spotlight and having every attention on her but she’s always the one who sing while performing. She is very popular in the school, she even have her own fanclub(eventhough she never agree of having a fanclub).
Kotobuki Tsumugi: Tsumugi, often referred to as ‘Mugi’ by her friends, is a wealthy girl with a gentle and sweet personality who plays keyboard. She originally intended to join the choir club, but joins the light music club instead after receiving an invitation and encouragement from both Mio and Ritsu. Mugi is considered a piano prodigy since she has been playing the piano since she was four and has experience in winning various piano contests. She is the daughter of a company president, and her family has several villas in various places around Japan(and even one in Finland). Since her father also owns a maid café, she often brings sweets and pastries to the club room, and she diligently makes tea with a tea set which is kept in their club room. Despite her wealth, she is fascinated by and finds joy in “normal” activities which really surprised the rest of the club members.
Nakano Azuza: Azusa is a student in the same year and class as Yui’s sister, Ui, who joins the light music club and becomes the rhythm guitarist. Azuza was called ” Azu-nyan” by Yui because Yui noticed that Azuza look perfect with the cat ears (Nyan can translate in English as “meow”) . she has a certain weakness for cakes and can be calmed down rather easily, sometimes by just being petted. Before joining the club, azuza have seen yui and the rest played at the school concert and got very interested in how cool and unique the club members play so she join the club. But when she join the club, she figured out that she got the wrong idea because the yui and the others didn’t practice at all. There are times that she think she’ll quit but she have a feeling that she start to enjoy what the club always do (tea party and hanging out).
This Japanese animation had been very popular in Japan(also all over the world), they even have a concert for it. But after this series had ended, the fan clubs are terribly upset for this news but now, Kyoto animation declared that there will be K-on the Movie soon. So now, K-on fan clubs all over the world are impatiently waiting for the movie to come out.
